Illinois recruit Leron Black joins Team USA

Illinois recruit Leron Black, a senior forward from Memphis, is one of 21 players who who accepted invitations to participate in the 2014 USA Basketball men’t U18 national team training camp.

Stevenson’s Jalen Brunson and St. Joseph’s Glynn Watson, both junior point guards, also are among the 21 invitees.

The training camp will be held June 10-19 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. A 12-man squad will compete in the FIBA Americas U18 tournament June 20-24 in Colorado Springs, joined by teams from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. The top four finishers will qualify for the 2015 FIBA U19 world championships.

The team will be coached by Florida’s Billy Donovan, who will be assisted by Arizona’s Sean Miller and Providence’s Ed Cooley.
